· Creation of Neighborhood Legal Aid Society in the 1970's

 

· Creation of Metropolitan Richmond Legal Aid Society in the 1970's

 

· Creation of the Virginia Farm Workers Legal Assistance Project in 1978

 

· Merger of Neighborhood Legal Aid Society with Metropolitan Richmond Legal Aid Society in 1981

 

· Co-Director Audrey Franks appointed by the Virginia General Assembly to be a judge of the City of Richmond Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court in 1990

 

· CVLAS and the Virginia Bar Association awarded the Harrison Tweed Award of the American Bar Association for its program of Pro Bono hotlines - of which the hotline at CVLAS is Virginia's first and largest - in the early 1990's

 

· Senior Managing Attorney Martin Wegbreit awarded the Virginia State Bar's annual Legal Aid Award in 1992

 

· Executive Director Henry McLaughlin awarded the Virginia State Bar's annual Legal Aid Award in 1994

 

· Senior Managing Attorney Anne Holton appointed by the Virginia General Assembly to be a judge of the City of Richmond Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court in 1995

 

· CVLAS and the Bar Association of the City of Richmond awarded the Harrison Tweed Award of the American Bar Association for its program of Pro Bono Housing Law - in which lawyers come to legal aid to see clients and take cases back to their offices for representation in court - in the mid 1990's

 

· Senior Managing Attorney Marilynn Goss awarded the Virginia State Bar's annual Legal Aid Award in 2000

 

· Merger of Central Virginia Legal Aid Society - Richmond, with Piedmont Legal Services - Charlottesville and Southside Virginia Legal Services - Petersburg, to form a three office regional CVLAS serving 5 cities and 15 counties in central Virginia in July 2001

 

· Central Virginia Legal Aid Society housing the Virginia Farm Workers Legal Assistance Project in July 2001

 

· Creation of regional telephone intake and intake assistant immediate advice in 2005

 

· Senior Managing Attorney Marilynn Goss appointed by the Virginia General Assembly to be a judge of the City of Richmond Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court in 2008

 

· Former Senior Managing Attorney Jay Speer awarded the Virginia State Bar's annual Legal Aid Award in 2008

 

· Senior Managing Attorney Freddie Goode awarded the Virginia State Bar's annual Legal Aid Award in 2009

 

· Former Senior Managing Attorney Marilynn Goss awarded the Tradition of Excellence Award by the Virginia State Bar's General Practice Section in 2009
